The ggggllllbbbb____ssssiiiitttteeee....ttttxxxxtttt file lists the network addresses of hosts
where a Global Location Broker (GLB) daemon may be running.

There are two versions of the GLB daemon: ggggllllbbbbdddd and nnnnrrrrggggllllbbbbdddd.
We provide the replicatable version, ggggllllbbbbdddd, only for Apollo,
SunOS, and ULTRIX systems. For other systems, we provide
     the non-replicatable version, nnnnrrrrggggllllbbbbdddd.

Ordinarily, programs contact a GLB by broadcasting on the
local network. However, some systems do not support broad-
casting. Also, in certain internet configurations, not
every network can have a GLB. (This typically occurs in
internets that use nnnnrrrrggggllllbbbbdddd, but it can also occur in an
internet that uses ggggllllbbbbdddd if not all networks include a host
that can run a ggggllllbbbbdddd.) For hosts that cannot locate a GLB
via broadcast, the ggggllllbbbb____ssssiiiitttteeee....ttttxxxxtttt file provides a list of
addresses where the host can try to directly contact a GLB.

Each line in ggggllllbbbb____ssssiiiitttteeee....ttttxxxxtttt contains a network address where a
GLB may be running. Hosts that have a ggggllllbbbb____ssssiiiitttteeee....ttttxxxxtttt file try
these addresses in order. Each address has the following
form: _f_a_m_i_l_y::::_h_o_s_t The _f_a_m_i_l_y is the textual name of an
address family. Possible values include iiiipppp and ddddddddssss.

The _h_o_s_t is a host name. A leading # can be used to indi-
cate that the host name is in the standard numeric form (for
     example, ####111199992222....9999....8888....7777 or ####555511115555cccc....111111111111gggg).

Blank lines and lines beginning with #### are ignored.

If a host has a ggggllllbbbb____ssssiiiitttteeee....ttttxxxxtttt file but does not find a GLB at
any of the addresses listed in the file, the host then tries
     to locate one via broadcast.

See _M_a_n_a_g_i_n_g _N_C_S _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e for information about Location
     Broker configuration.
